Overview of Ministry

Vision: Linked Generation exists to help individuals ages 18-35 engage their destiny and fulfill God’s plan for their lives. This vision unfolds in three strands: connecting, growing, and serving (C.G.S.). Linked Generation endeavors to connect young adults around common interests or issues, help them grow in their relationship with the Lord, and provide opportunities to serve around church, local, national, or global initiatives. We see ourselves as believers who through relationship with God and others, are prisms that shine brightly, bringing light to the world (Matthew 5:16) and influencing change in our spheres of influence.

a.     Connect: The “connect” strand of the Linked Generation vision features a variety of activities and events that allow individuals to gather based on common interests, issues, or needs. Young adults want to be connected to healthy, thriving communities. “Connect” initiatives invite young adults into the PAOG young adult community. Examples of opportunities to “connect” include, but are not limited to the following:

1   Recreational outings

2   The Gathering

3   Concerts

4   Game nights

5   Relevant workshops (Study skills; Business etiquette; Preparing for College, etc.

6  Outreach efforts

b.     Grow: The “grow” strand of the Linked Generation vision features opportunities for individuals to begin or advance in their relationship with the Lord (“grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”—2 Peter 3:18, KJV). Efforts in this area include helping young adults become skillful in God’s word, develop spiritual exercises, and discover spiritual gifts. Equally important, individuals have access to forums where they can ask and reflect on critical questions as well as participate in meaningful, Christ-centered dialogue. Examples of opportunities to “grow” include, but are not limited to the following:

1   The Gathering

2   Bible study

3  Small groups

c.     Serve: The “serve” strand of the Linked Generation vision features opportunities for individuals to utilize their gifts (natural and spiritual), abilities, and expertise to engage church, local, national, or global needs/issues. This may involve original initiatives. Or, young adults may align themselves with initiatives that have already been undertaken. Examples of opportunities to “serve” include, but are not limited to the following:

1   Outreach efforts (City on a Hill, community centers and orgs)

2   In-reach support (Youth Ministry, assisting other PAOG ministries)

3   “Connect” and/or “Grow” efforts

4   Workshops, Seminars, Programs

5   Missions
